About
Edelweiss distillate — gentle antioxidant alpine botanical. Popular for sensitive skin formulations.
Gnaphalium (now Leontopodium) alpinum — the edelweiss flower — yields an aqueous extract rich in leontopodic acid and other phenolic acids with demonstrated in vitro antioxidant activity. The ingredient is widely used at low percentages (0.1-2%) in soothing, anti-pollution and anti-ageing formulas. CIR has not issued a dedicated monograph, but supplier dossiers show good tolerability. Asteraceae family allergies can theoretically cross-react. No EU restrictions apply.
