About
A simple fatty ester (hexanol + hexanoic acid) with apple-pineapple fruity notes. FEMA GRAS flavor listing and a clean cosmetic profile.
Hexyl hexanoate (CAS 6378-65-0) is the ester of n-hexanol and n-hexanoic acid, naturally present in apples and pineapples and widely used as both flavor and fragrance. It carries FEMA GRAS flavor approval and is inventoried for fragrance use under RIFM. Standard fatty esters are rapidly cleaved by endogenous esterases to the parent alcohol and acid, both of which are well-tolerated. GHS hazards are typically limited to mild eye irritation at neat levels. Not an EU Annex III declared fragrance allergen. Good tier scoring reflects both the safety record and the abundance of supporting data.
