About

A broad-cut petroleum hydrocarbon fraction covering methane through butane, with potential 1,3-butadiene contamination that renders it prohibited as a cosmetic ingredient under EU Annex II.

This C1-4 hydrocarbon mixture encompasses gases and very light liquids from natural gas and petroleum refining. Butadiene contamination above 0.1% w/w triggers EU Annex II prohibition under Regulation 1223/2009, as 1,3-butadiene is a Category 1A carcinogen per CLP. The broad and variable composition of this stream makes it impossible to define safe cosmetic use. Entirely an industrial/refinery feedstock.
