Iodomethane (methyl iodide, CAS 74-88-4) carries an extensive list of hazard statements under CLP Regulation (EC 1272/2008): H301 (toxic if swallowed), H312 (harmful in contact with skin), H315 (skin irritation), H331 (toxic if inhaled), H335 (may cause respiratory irritation), H351 (suspected carcinogen), plus environmental hazards H400/H411. It is not listed in any positive annex of EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 and is considered a high-hazard industrial chemical. IARC classifies methyl iodide as Group 3 (not classifiable as to carcinogenicity to humans), but EU CLP classification carries carcinogenicity concern (H351).
