JACOBAEA VULGARIS EXTRACT
Safety score · 0–100
Caution
Derived from EU CosIng regulatory status, PubChem hazard data and published research. How we score.
A plant-derived extract used mostly for antioxidant support and general skin conditioning.
Jacobaea vulgaris is a ragwort-type botanical associated with pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which are toxicologically uncomfortable compounds even if topical exposure is far below oral exposure. Unless purification and alkaloid removal are extremely well controlled, this is not the kind of plant extract that deserves a generous safety score.
Function
Skin benefits
- Provides antioxidant support against oxidative stress
Known concerns
- Potential pyrrolizidine alkaloid content raises toxicology concerns.
- Safety depends heavily on purification and alkaloid removal.
