About
Laureth-15 is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
Laureth-15 is the polyethylene glycol 15-mole ether of lauryl alcohol (dodecanol), CAS 9002-92-0. Listed in CosIng with emulsifying and surfactant functions and no EU restrictions in Annex III. Mid-high ethoxylation (EO15) gives balanced performance as both emulsifier and surfactant. The laureth series has been assessed by CIR as safe in cosmetics, and no specific SCCS concerns have been raised for this class. 1,4-dioxane, a probable carcinogen formed during ethoxylation, is controlled to trace levels under EU GMP. Laureth-15 is used in a variety of rinse-off and leave-on products.
