About
Laureth-38 is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
Laureth-38 is the polyethylene glycol 38-mole ether of lauryl alcohol, CAS 9002-92-0. Listed in CosIng with emulsifying and surfactant functions and no EU restrictions. The high degree of ethoxylation (EO38) significantly increases water solubility and reduces the potential for skin penetration or irritation. The laureth series is one of the most thoroughly reviewed ingredient classes in cosmetic safety assessments. CIR has published safety assessments on laureth compounds finding them safe for cosmetic use, and the SCCS has not identified concerns at normal use levels. The 1,4-dioxane content is controlled under EU GMP.
