About

Myrcene is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.

Myrcene (7-methyl-3-methylene-1,6-octadiene) is an acyclic monoterpene hydrocarbon that occurs naturally in the essential oils of bay, cannabis, hops, and many other plants. It is widely present in fragrance compositions and is classified as a fragrance allergen under EU Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009. The IFRA restricts its use due to skin sensitization and irritation potential. Myrcene is also listed on the EU fragrance allergen declaration list and requires explicit labeling in cosmetic products above threshold concentrations.
