About
A nickel salt of N-acetylmethionine. Nickel is the world's leading contact allergen and broadly restricted in skin-contact products — not an acceptable cosmetic ingredient.
Nickel acetylmethionate is a nickel salt of the amino acid N-acetylmethionine. Nickel is the most frequent cause of allergic contact dermatitis worldwide, affecting roughly 10-20% of women and 1-3% of men in patch-test populations. EU REACH Annex XVII entry 27 restricts nickel release from articles intended for direct and prolonged skin contact to 0.5 µg/cm²/week, and the EU Cosmetics Regulation generally excludes deliberate addition of nickel salts. Certain nickel compounds (sulfides, oxides) are IARC Group 1 carcinogens. There is no acceptable cosmetic use case; trace contamination in mineral ingredients is a separate quality-control issue.
