About
Octyldodeceth-10 is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
Octyldodeceth-10 is an ethoxylated ether of 2-octyldodecanol with an average of 10 moles of ethylene oxide per molecule. The branched C20 alcohol provides good emolliency while the moderate EO degree raises the HLB to approximately 14, making it suitable for mid-range O/W emulsification. The EU Cosmetics Regulation permits its use without specific restriction. The higher EO degree compared to Octyldodeceth-2 significantly reduces skin penetration and irritation risk. Not classified as a skin sensitizer under EU CLP.
Skin benefits
- Emollient and emulsifier properties
- Provides smooth, non-greasy skin feel
- Good skin compatibility at moderate EO
Known concerns
