About
A mild amphoteric surfactant derived from oleic acid, commonly used in gentle cleansers, shampoos, and body washes for its excellent foaming and skin compatibility.
Oleyl betaine is an amphoteric surfactant (betaine type) produced from oleic acid and dimethylaminopropylamine. Betaines are known for their mildness, low irritation potential, and compatibility with anionic, cationic, and non-ionic surfactants. The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel has assessed related alkyl betaines as safe for use in cosmetics. EU CosIng does not list oleyl betaine in Annex II or III, indicating no specific ban or restriction. It is widely used in baby care, sensitive-skin, and facial cleansers.
