About
A polyethoxylated amine derived from oleic acid, used as a surfactant and emulsifier in cosmetic formulations. Amine-functional PEG compounds are known skin sensitizers and are under scrutiny in the EU.
PEG-15 Oleamine is the PEG ether derivative of oleamine (derived from oleic acid), with approximately 15 moles of ethylene oxide. While not specifically restricted under EU Annex III, amine-functional PEG derivatives have been associated with skin sensitization potential in the scientific literature. The EU Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) has noted concerns about amine-added PEG derivatives. Residues of 1,4-dioxane and ethylene oxide are regulated under general cosmetic purity requirements.
