PEG-50 HYDROGENATED TALLOW AMINE
Safety score · 0–100
Moderate
Derived from EU CosIng regulatory status, PubChem hazard data and published research. How we score.
A very high-PEG hydrogenated tallow amine. Better-tolerated than its shorter-chain siblings, but same class concerns remain.
PEG-50 hydrogenated tallow amine is a saturated polyethoxylated fatty amine with 50 EO units — the highest ethoxylation in the set — giving the lowest direct irritation and highest water solubility. Hydrogenation suppresses oxidative off-notes. Functions as cationic surfactant, emulsifier, and antistatic. CIR review of the PEG-alkyl amine family supports rinse-off safety with raw-material specifications. At very high PEG content, 1,4-dioxane control during manufacture is particularly important. The nitrogen-containing amine retains inherent nitrosamine-formation potential. Score in the upper Moderate/orange band — this is the most favorable tallowamine profile in the batch, but the class concerns hold it below yellow.
