About

A cationic polymer based on polyvinyl imidazoline, used as a skin-conditioning film-former and antistatic agent in cosmetic formulations.

Polyvinyl Imidazolinium Acetate (also called PVP/Imidazoline polymer) is a cationic vinyl polymer with an imidazoline ring. It functions as a film-forming skin-conditioning agent and is listed in EU CosIng without restrictions. Polymers of this type are large molecules that do not penetrate the skin barrier, making systemic toxicity irrelevant. The acetate counterion is the same as food-grade acetic acid. Used in skincare and hair care formulations for its smoothing and film-forming properties. No significant safety concerns.
