About

Sour cherry fruit — a polyphenol-rich botanical used for antioxidant support. Gentle on most skin but pigment-heavy.

Prunus cerasus (sour/tart cherry) fruit contains high levels of anthocyanins (cyanidin glycosides), flavonols, phenolic acids and vitamin C. In cosmetics it is used as juice, powder or glycerin extract, typically at sub-1% in masks, serums and creams for antioxidant and skin-conditioning claims. Listed in EU CosIng; no SCCS restrictions. Safety rests on extensive food use plus general polyphenol toxicology. Stone-fruit allergy is possible but rare in topical products. Evidence moderate — strong chemistry, limited controlled cosmetic trials.
