About
American skullcap flower powder — a flavonoid-rich botanical used for antioxidant and skin-soothing effects. Safe topically, but formulators should vet supplier ID carefully.
Scutellaria lateriflora flower powder is the dried, milled bloom of American skullcap, traditionally used for its flavonoid content (baicalin, scutellarin, wogonin). In cosmetics it functions as an antioxidant and skin-conditioning additive at low percent levels. Listed in EU CosIng. Topical safety is considered acceptable at cosmetic levels, but the oral supplement record has some reports of hepatotoxicity that have later been attributed mostly to misidentification with Teucrium species. This history makes species authentication and supplier transparency especially important. No CIR monograph and limited dermatological toxicology keep the score in mid-yellow.
