About
Juice of red beetroot — a deep magenta, antioxidant-rich botanical used both for skin conditioning and for natural color tint.
Beta vulgaris (red beet) root juice is a skin-conditioning and natural colorant botanical. Its signature compounds are betalain pigments — betanin (red-violet) and vulgaxanthin (yellow) — which have documented antioxidant activity in vitro. The juice also contains natural sugars, minerals, and some nitrate. CosIng lists it for skin conditioning; EU uses processed beet as a food colorant (E162). No specific CIR cosmetic monograph. Topically well tolerated at low use levels; the main practical issue is that betalain pigments can stain skin and textiles temporarily. Like all plant juices, it requires preservation against microbial growth. Allergy is very rare.

- Betalain antioxidant pigments
