About
Resurrection plant vesicles — a plant-origin exosome-like ingredient, novel and under-characterized.
Selaginella lepidophylla (Rose of Jericho, 'resurrection plant') can survive extreme desiccation and rehydrate, due in part to trehalose accumulation and specialized membrane biology. 'Vesicles' in this INCI refers to plant-derived extracellular vesicle preparations marketed for hydration and anti-stress skin claims. Plant exosome-like nanovesicles are a young ingredient category with few standardized characterization methods and very limited peer-reviewed clinical data. They are generally considered safer than mammalian exosomes because they carry no animal pathogens, but quality and reproducibility vary widely.
