About
Vinclozolin is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Its specific function may vary between products. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
Vinclozolin is a dicarbonimide fungicide that was approved under EU Plant Protection Products Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 but whose approval has been withdrawn due to its identification as an endocrine-disrupcing chemical (EDC). It is classified under GHS/CLP as Repr. 1B (H360FD — may damage fertility and the unborn child). Under EU cosmetic regulation, substances with endocrine-disrupting properties and reproductive toxicity are subject to heightened restrictions, and SCCS has raised concerns about EDC substances in personal care products. Vinclozolin is effectively prohibited from cosmetic use.
Known concerns
- H360FD: May damage fertility and the unborn child — category 1B reproductive toxicant
- Confirmed endocrine disruptor — EU EDC criteria met
- Approval withdrawn in EU for plant protection uses
- Severe reproductive and developmental toxicity
- No cosmetic function — residue contamination concern only
