About
A fragrance ester derived from hydrocinnamic acid and cinnamyl alcohol, used to add warm, balsamic notes to perfumes and cosmetic scents.
Hydrocinnamyl cinnamate (also known as dihydrocinnamyl cinnamate) is a saturated cinnamate ester with no EU Annex III restrictions. As a hydrogenated derivative of cinnamyl cinnamate, it presents lower sensitization risk than its unsaturated counterparts. IFRA/RIFM evaluations support its use in cosmetic fragrance applications at standard concentrations.
Known concerns
- Potential fragrance allergen requiring declaration
- Generally lower risk than unsaturated cinnamate counterparts
