About

A cationized hydrolyzed rice protein similar in function to the oat variant, providing conditioning, film-forming, and moisturizing benefits to skin and hair.

Structurally identical in function to the oat protein variant, this ingredient is a hydroxypropyl-trimethylammonium chloride derivative of hydrolyzed rice (Oryza sativa) protein. Cationization enhances substantivity to negatively charged skin and hair surfaces. Rice protein contains amino acids (glycine, proline) that support collagen synthesis and skin elasticity. EU CosIng lists hydrolyzed rice proteins without Annex II or III restrictions. The ingredient is regarded as safe and is used in both skincare and hair care formulations for its conditioning and film-forming properties.

Skin benefits

  • Film-forming conditioning and moisturizing
  • Anti-static and detangling benefits for skin/hair
  • Supports skin barrier integrity
  • Antioxidant activity from rice-derived amino acids
