About

Derived from hydrolyzed barley protein, helps condition and strengthen hair.

This ingredient is a quaternary ammonium-modified hydrolyzed barley protein. Quaternary ammonium compounds (quats) are widely used as conditioning and antistatic agents in cosmetics. Hydrolyzed proteins function as film-formers and conditioning agents on skin and hair. The laurdimonium (C12/quaternary) substituent distinguishes it from shorter-chain variants. Under EU Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, it is not restricted in Annex II or III. The ingredient is generally considered safe at cosmetic use levels.
