About

A beneficial bacteria used as a natural preservative and probiotic — helps keep products fresh and supports your skin's microbial balance.

Leuconostoc refers to one or more species of the lactic acid bacterium genus Leuconostoc. In cosmetics, fermentation products from Leuconostoc species function as natural antimicrobial preservatives and probiotic skin-conditioning agents. Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate is a particularly common derivative that provides broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity as a natural alternative to synthetic preservatives. The bacteriocins and organic acids produced during fermentation inhibit growth of pathogenic microorganisms while supporting beneficial skin microbiome. Generally recognized as safe with a long history in food fermentation.
