About
Alfalfa juice — a green, chlorophyll-and-mineral-rich plant juice used for skin-conditioning and vitamin support. Generally gentle.
Medicago sativa (alfalfa/lucerne) flower/leaf/stem juice is a skin-conditioning botanical traditionally valued for its dense mineral, vitamin (K, E, C) and chlorophyll content. It also contains saponins and isoflavones. CosIng lists it for skin conditioning. No CIR monograph; safety profile rests on long use in food/supplements and absence of cosmetic-specific adverse event signals. Saponins are surface-active and can irritate mucous membranes at high concentrations. Alfalfa contains canavanine (a non-protein amino acid) which has been implicated in lupus-like reactions with long-term high-dose oral use — topically the exposure is negligible. Preservation is required.
