About
Menadione is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
Menadione (2-methyl-1,4-naphthoquinone) is a synthetic form of vitamin K that has been used in cosmetic formulations for its purported skin-conditioning properties. However, it is restricted in cosmetic products within the EU under Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 due to toxicity concerns, including potential genotoxicity and liver toxicity at elevated exposures. It is not permitted in aerosolized cosmetic products (sprays) due to inhalation toxicity risks. The substance is also subject to IFRA restrictions.
