About

A di-ethoxylated glyceryl ester of oleic acid used as a nonionic emulsifier; it has a good safety profile with no EU restrictions.

PEG-12 GLYCERYL DIOLEATE is the polyethylene glycol (12 mol EO average) diester of glycerol and oleic acid, functioning as a nonionic surfactant and emulsifier in cosmetic formulations. It is not listed in EU Annex II or Annex III restriction lists. The diester structure provides a balance of lipophilicity and hydrophilicity, making it effective for O/W emulsification. Mild skin or eye irritation is possible at high concentrations. Trace 1,4-dioxane from the ethoxylation process is a standard impurity consideration.

Skin benefits

  • Provides effective emulsification for cosmetic formulations
  • Offers emollient and skin-conditioning benefits

Known concerns

  • Mild skin or eye irritation possible at high concentrations
  • Potential trace 1,4-dioxane residue from ethoxylation process
