About
A short-chain polyethylene glycol ester of isostearic acid used as an emulsifier and skin conditioning agent in cosmetic formulations.
PEG-2 ISOSTEARATE is an ester of polyethylene glycol (2 EO units) with isostearic acid, giving it a very short ethoxylate chain. The short EO chain means the substance is predominantly lipophilic (fat-soluble), limiting water solubility but also limiting skin penetration of the PEG portion. Used as an emulsifier in cosmetic formulations. The CIR panel has assessed PEG esters as safe. Not restricted in EU Annexes II or III under the Cosmetics Regulation.
