About
Propyzamide is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Its specific function may vary between products. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
Propyzamide (also known as pronamide) is an amide herbicide used primarily for weed control in agriculture. IARC has classified it as Category 2 (possible human carcinogen). The EU has banned the use of propyzamide as a plant protection product (Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/855). While not individually listed in EU CosIng Annex II, substances banned from all agricultural use due to health concerns require caution. The compound has structural similarities to other amide herbicides with endocrine-disrupting potential and is not an approved cosmetic ingredient.
Known concerns
- IARC Category 2 possible carcinogen
