About
Chestnut rose (cili) juice — one of the highest natural vitamin C sources. Gentle antioxidant and brightening action; stability is the real formulation challenge.
Rosa roxburghii juice is the fresh/concentrated juice of the chestnut rose fruit, native to southwest China. Notable for exceptionally high ascorbic acid (vitamin C) content — often cited as 30-50x the vitamin C of orange, along with superoxide dismutase (SOD) and polyphenolic antioxidants. Used in cosmetics for antioxidant and brightening claims. Vitamin C stability is the main formulation challenge; without proper pH, packaging and antioxidants, actives degrade rapidly. No EU Annex II listing; no specific CIR monograph. Safety by precedent — edible fruit with long food history in China.
Skin benefits
- High natural vitamin C antioxidant
- Polyphenolic brightening support
- Edible-fruit origin with good safety history
Known concerns
- Vitamin C degrades rapidly without stabilisation

- Possible sensitivity in fruit-sensitive users
