About
Tomato fruit juice — a lycopene-rich fruit juice used for antioxidant skin conditioning. Acidic and pigmented.
Solanum lycopersicum (tomato) fruit juice is pressed from ripe tomato fruit. It is a significant dietary source of lycopene, beta-carotene, vitamin C, and potassium, and provides antioxidant function in cosmetics. The raw material is food-grade with extensive human dietary safety data. EU CosIng lists it without restriction and no GHS hazard class applies to the ripe-fruit juice. Unripe fruit, leaves, and stems contain tomatine glycoalkaloids and are inappropriate for cosmetic use. The juice is acidic (pH ~4) and will need pH adjustment in some formulations.
