About
A triple-protected peptide conjugate of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) with glycine and tryptophan designed for superior skin penetration and stability, with an excellent expected safety profile.
This compound is a sophisticated vitamin C (ascorbic acid) derivative where the C3 hydroxyl is protected by a methylcarbonyl glycyl tri-t-butyl tryptophanamide moiety. Unlike ascorbic acid itself, such derivatives are stable in cosmetic formulations and upon skin absorption can liberate active vitamin C. Vitamin C in its various forms is one of the most extensively studied and safest cosmetic actives. The glycine and tryptophan fragments — protected as t-butyl carbamate and amide — are fragments of the amino acid chemistry used throughout pharmacology and cosmetics with no independent toxicity. The high molecular weight and protected nature makes systemic absorption unlikely.
Skin benefits
- Antioxidant protection from stable vitamin C delivery
- Potential collagen synthesis support
- Brightening and anti-aging skin benefits
- Stable in cosmetic formulations avoiding oxidation problems of free ascorbic acid
Known concerns
- Novel derivative — limited standalone safety data but well-supported by parent compound toxicology
- No EU CosIng specific restriction entries
