About
Ethyl Valerate is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
Ethyl valerate (CAS 539-82-2) is the ethyl ester of pentanoic (valeric) acid, occurring naturally in apple, strawberry, and other fruits. It is used as a flavour and fragrance ingredient in cosmetics and is evaluated by IFRA/IOFI as part of the global flavour and fragrance inventory. No EU Annex restrictions apply, and the SCCS has not flagged this ingredient in its opinions. It is considered safe at normal cosmetic use levels as a fragrance component, though like all fragrance ingredients it should be disclosed in the ingredient list per EU Regulation 1223/2009.
