About
Ceteth-45 is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
CETETH-45 is a cetyl alcohol ethoxylated with approximately 45 moles of ethylene oxide, placing it at the high end of the CETETH series. The very high EO degree confers near-complete water solubility, very low irritation potential, and a light, non-greasy skin feel. It is listed in Annex III of the EU Cosmetics Regulation and is subject to standard purity requirements. This ingredient has been assessed by safety bodies as presenting minimal concern at typical cosmetic use levels, with the CIR Panel noting safety across a wide concentration range.
Skin benefits
- Ultra-light emulsifier ideal for serum and light gel-cream formulations
- Provides skin-conditioning benefits without any greasy residue
Known concerns
- Minimal irritation risk due to high EO degree
- EU residual monomer purity standards apply but are easily met with modern manufacturing
