About
Angelica seed powder — fragrant but contains furanocoumarins that can make skin react to sunlight.
Angelica archangelica seed powder comes from the fruiting seeds of the Angelica plant. Like other parts of the plant it contains furanocoumarins (psoralens/bergaptens), which can cause phototoxic reactions — pigmentation or burn-like lesions — when exposed to UV after topical application. IFRA restricts Angelica root oil to very low percentages in leave-on products for this reason; the seed is generally lower in furanocoumarins than the root, but not free of them. Rinse-off use is less concerning. CIR has not issued a monograph on this ingredient.
