About
Eggplant (aubergine) fruit powder — a food-grade botanical providing anthocyanin antioxidants. Solid mild-use profile with minor solanaceous caveats.
Solanum melongena (eggplant/aubergine) fruit powder is milled from the dried skin and pulp of the fruit, rich in the anthocyanin nasunin and related polyphenols along with trace alkaloids characteristic of the nightshade family. In cosmetics it functions as an antioxidant and skin-conditioning additive at 0.1-3%. EU CosIng lists it; food-grade use is global. The main cosmetic-safety consideration is that Solanaceae plants can carry trace solanine-type glycoalkaloids, though in ripe fruit these are extremely low. No CIR monograph and limited modern topical-toxicology publications keep the score mid-yellow. No IARC classification.
