About
Persimmon leaf powder — a tannin- and flavonoid-rich botanical used for antioxidant and mild astringent effect. Solid upper-yellow profile.
Diospyros kaki (persimmon) leaf powder is milled from the dried foliage of the persimmon tree, long used in Asian herbalism. It contains proanthocyanidins, flavonoids (kaempferol, quercetin derivatives), and vitamin C, giving it antioxidant and mild astringent character. EU CosIng lists the ingredient. Cosmetic levels are typically 0.1-2%. There is no CIR monograph, but related persimmon-fruit materials have a long record of safe use. The main caveat is that tannins can be drying on reactive skin and that leaf-ingredient dossiers are thinner than fruit-ingredient ones. No IARC classification.
