About
Horsetail leaf powder — a silica-rich traditional botanical used for skin and hair conditioning. Supplier quality matters because of trace alkaloids.
Equisetum arvense (horsetail, field horsetail) leaf powder is a mineral- and silica-rich plant material traditionally used as a strengthening and skin-conditioning ingredient. It contains flavonoids (quercetin, apigenin derivatives), saponins, and trace nicotine and the enzyme thiaminase, the last of which is a systemic concern in oral use but much less so topically. EU CosIng lists it. For cosmetic safety, supplier assurance is important because crude or poorly processed horsetail can carry elevated nicotine levels; properly processed material is widely considered safe topically at 0.1-2%. No CIR monograph; no IARC classification.
