About
Juice of lingonberry — a tart northern berry with strong antioxidant credentials and some natural arbutin, which contributes gentle tone-evening effects.
Vaccinium vitis-idaea (lingonberry/cowberry) fruit juice is used as a skin-conditioning antioxidant botanical. Besides anthocyanins and flavonols, lingonberry is one of the few natural sources of arbutin (a hydroquinone glucoside), which contributes mild tone-evening effects and partly explains its traditional topical use. CosIng lists it for skin conditioning. No specific CIR monograph; safety dossier rests on long dietary use and absence of adverse-event signals. Natural benzoic and organic acids give the juice a low pH that can tingle on compromised skin. Preservation is still required despite the benzoic acid content. Allergy is uncommon.
