Cinchonan-9-ol, 6'-methoxy-, (8.alpha.,9R)- (Quinine) and its salts are restricted under EU Annex III of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009. Quinine is classified as acute toxicity (H302), skin irritant (H315), skin sensitiser (H317), eye irritant (H319) and respiratory sensitiser (H334) under CLP Regulation. Two concentration limits apply: 0.5% (as quinine base) for hair care and 0.2% (as quinine base) for other applications.
