About
Camel grass (lemongrass-family) leaf powder — an aromatic botanical with antioxidant and skin-conditioning intent. Notable fragrance-allergen content.
Cymbopogon schoenanthus leaf powder, commonly called camel grass or juncao, is a lemongrass relative used traditionally in North African and Middle Eastern cosmetics. The leaf carries essential-oil constituents including citral, geraniol, and piperitone — chemicals that give the material its fresh lemony scent and antioxidant activity, but also contribute well-known fragrance allergens. EU CosIng lists it. Cosmetic levels are usually 0.1-2%. Traditional use is long and broad, but modern peer-reviewed cosmetic dossiers are thin, and citral in particular is a documented skin sensitiser at higher levels. No CIR monograph; no IARC classification.
