PEG-20 GLYCERYL RICINOLEATE
Safety score · 0–100
Fine
Derived from EU CosIng regulatory status, PubChem hazard data and published research. How we score.
A highly ethoxylated (20 EO) glyceryl ricinoleate derivative with excellent water solubility, used as a solubilizing and conditioning agent in aqueous cosmetic formulations.
The higher ethoxylation degree (20 vs 15) provides improved water solubility and clarity in aqueous systems. Same 1,4-dioxane considerations as other PEG-ricinoleates. CAS 51142-51-9 same as PEG-15 variant; cosmetic function varies with polymer length. EU cosmetics permit with standard reporting.
Skin benefits
- Excellent solubilization of oil actives
- Emollient properties
- Skin conditioning
- Good water solubility for clear formulations
Known concerns
- 1,4-dioxane trace contamination possible
- PEG sensitivity in damaged skin
- Higher EO chains may increase sensitization risk in atopic individuals
