About
A Polysorbate 60-type emulsifier with 3 mol EO, used to stabilise emulsions and improve the texture of skin-care and color-cosmetic formulations.
PEG-3 Sorbitan Stearate is a member of the Polysorbate family, functioning as an emulsifying agent and surfactant. It is not restricted under EU cosmetics law. The ingredient has been reviewed by scientific bodies and found safe for use in cosmetic formulations at normal concentrations. The ethoxylation process may introduce trace 1,4-dioxane, an impurity controlled under EU cosmetics purity standards. Skin sensitisation potential is very low for this class of ingredients.
Skin benefits
- Effective O/W emulsifier for stable formulations
- Improves texture and sensory profile of finished products
Known concerns
- Potential trace 1,4-dioxane from ethoxylation (EU-regulated impurity)
