PEG-5 Cocamine is the ethoxylated derivative of primary coconut amine with an average of 5 moles of ethylene oxide, functioning as a surfactant and antistatic agent. Amine-based surfactants can be irritating to eyes and skin in concentrated form and may contribute to nitrosamine formation during storage. It is permitted under EU Regulation 1223/2009 with typical use levels below 2% in rinse-off products.
