About

A recombinant Epidermal Growth Factor produced in transgenic silkworms at 53 amino acids, supporting skin cell proliferation and renewal.

Silkworm sh-Oligopeptide-1 is a recombinant human EGF (up to 53 amino acids) produced in transgenic silkworm (Bombyx mori). EGF is a well-characterised growth factor stimulating cell proliferation. While the 53-amino-acid fragment used in cosmetics is smaller than full-length EGF, the inherent growth factor activity of this ingredient class warrants safety evaluation. Not listed in EU Annex II or III but growth factor peptides are subject to ongoing SCCS review.
