About
Hibiscus flower powder — a colourful botanical with mild fruit acids, mucilage, and antioxidant anthocyanins.
Hibiscus rosa-sinensis flower powder is dried, milled Chinese hibiscus blossoms. Phytochemistry includes anthocyanins (pigment and antioxidant), organic acids (citric, malic — mild AHA-like effect), flavonoids, and polysaccharide mucilage that contributes slip and softness. EU CosIng lists it for skin-conditioning and humectant functions; no Annex II/III restrictions, no CIR concerns. Generally well tolerated, with mild exfoliating-type effects at higher concentrations. Colour transfer to final product is a formulation consideration.
