About
American agave leaf powder — a fibrous succulent powder with mild exfoliating and conditioning use. Fresh sap is known to be irritating.
Agave americana leaf powder (CAS 85186-53-4) is milled dried leaf of the century plant. Dried leaves are largely inert fibrous material with mucilage and polysaccharides, but the fresh sap contains calcium oxalate crystals and saponins that can cause contact irritation and even dermatitis in raw form. Proper drying and milling reduces but does not eliminate these risks. EU CosIng lists the ingredient for skin-conditioning function; no Annex II restriction, but caution is warranted at high concentrations and in sensitive users.
