About
Puncture vine fruit powder — a saponin-rich Ayurvedic botanical. Generally well tolerated topically, limited modern safety data.
Tribulus terrestris fruit powder (CAS 90131-68-3) is the milled dried fruit of the puncture vine, long used in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine. The fruit contains steroidal saponins (protodioscin, dioscin), flavonoids, and alkaloids in trace amounts. EU CosIng lists it for skin-conditioning function; no Annex II/III restrictions. No formal CIR review. Topically it is generally well tolerated, but saponin content warrants caution around eyes and mucous membranes. Much of the published research concerns oral supplementation, not topical cosmetics.
