About
Lemon fruit powder — a vitamin-C and citric-acid source with mild exfoliating action. Citrus peel can photosensitise sun-exposed skin.
Citrus medica limonum fruit powder is dried, milled whole lemon. It contains citric acid, vitamin C, flavonoids (hesperidin, eriocitrin), and, if peel is included, volatile terpenes (limonene) and phototoxic furocoumarins such as bergapten. EU CosIng lists it for skin-conditioning and masking functions; IFRA limits on citrus peel extracts apply in fragrance use. The fruit powder form generally contains less furocoumarin than cold-pressed peel oil, but phototoxicity risk cannot be dismissed for leave-on daytime products. Limonene is an EU-listed fragrance allergen.
